This review is specifically for Kim who saved me from having to take another 1/2 day off from work. She is competent and kind. She jumped in to take over the passport processing from the guy who didn’t know how to process my virtually stolen passport. USPS needs more people like Kim. Thanks so much Kim!

I submitted my passport application. I was a bit nervous beforehand because of the reviews I had read, but Kim was kind and professional, which was different from what I expected. I think the process went smoothly because I had prepared my documents in advance and had an appointment. I hope that those who are doing their jobs properly and appropriately are recognized and fairly evaluated.

My mother went here to get my baby sister's passport done and had a really bad experience with a worker there (Vietnamese; stubby, short woman). My mom is an immigrant from Vietnam who only had an education up to elementary school; the lady kept being really critical about my mom and her literacy level, the lady is fluent in Viet and English so she criticized my mom for coming from a now rich part of the countryside but my mother had no money at the time for an education when her home town was and is still very rural. She kept telling my mom about why she would immigrate if she didn't pursue an education here even though my mother juggled multiple jobs to raise our family. (Which was none of the lady's business anyway; highly unprofessional) Very rude short, stubby Vietnamese worker; she yelled at my infant (1month old) sister and my family about, "Why is she crying so much?!" "Go out!" Like bruh, babies cry--especially if they're new to the environment outside--my parents did their best to stop her crying.

During my visit to the USPS office today, I experienced an interaction with an employee named Kim that was so unprofessional and hostile that it warrants formal escalation. I came in to complete an address change, which is a bit more complicated for me due to a recent legal name change. Two gentlemen were helping me, and they were kind, patient, and genuinely trying to navigate the process with me. While one of them was reviewing my documents, Kim abruptly inserted herself into the conversation and told him to stop helping me. She did this without assessing the situation or asking questions. My ID matches only one of the address changes I need, not the second one—but every other document I provided verifies the second address. I was going over acceptable forms of proof with the clerk when Kim overheard us and decided to intervene. She said, “No. Only driver’s license.” I pulled up the official USPS email I received and explained that I would return with my university ID since it is listed as an acceptable form of identification. She immediately shut that down again, repeating, “No. Only driver’s license.” I responded, “It literally says it in the email.” She did not appreciate that I wasn’t backing down, and her tone became noticeably rude and aggressive. I asked her directly, “Why are you being so rude?” and she absolutely lost it. She raised her voice at me in front of other customers and told me that I was the one being rude and that I was not listening. At that point it was clear she was not interested in helping anyone—she was simply antagonistic for the sake of it. I told her she should be nice to people, to have a better day, and to learn to treat people with respect. Then I attempted to leave. As I started walking down the hall, I could still hear her yelling about me and complaining to her coworkers—again, loudly, in front of other customers. At that point, I turned around because if she was going to continue escalating the situation, I wasn’t going to allow it to be one-sided. I walked back and confronted her behavior directly. I told her she had no reason to speak to me the way she did, that she was taking her anger out on people who had done absolutely nothing to her. I also told her that I am currently being evaluated for a possible cancer relapse, and that she has no idea what people are going through when she chooses to treat them cruelly. Her behavior was so extreme that another customer—who witnessed the entire exchange—ran outside after me to tell me that this is a known problem. They said Kim behaves like this regularly, and that most of the neighborhood avoids this location because of her. After hearing that, I checked the Google reviews myself and found that complaints about Kim have been happening for years without apparent correction. She is truly a menace to the public. Her hostility is beyond normal customer-service issues; she seems to be cruel to people for sport. I have already escalated this to USPS Headquarters and will continue doing so. No customer should be subjected to verbal aggression, public humiliation, or bullying by a USPS employee, especially when simply trying to complete a basic service like an address change. Kim’s conduct today was unacceptable, unprovoked, and deeply concerning.

I’ve always found the staff at this location helpful and proactive in offering suggestions. For passport photos I’d recommend FedEx (a block away).
