Juneteenth is celebrated annually on June 19 to commemorate the ending of slavery in the United States. In Texas, where the holiday originated, Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston and issued General Order No. 3, officially announcing that all enslaved people were free—more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. The news was met with both celebration and disbelief, as Texas had remained largely untouched by Union forces, allowing slavery to persist despite the national decree. This delayed freedom became a defining moment for African Americans in Texas, who began celebrating June 19 as a day of emancipation, resilience, and hope. Over time, Juneteenth spread beyond Texas, becoming a symbol of African American freedom and the ongoing pursuit of civil rights throughout the United States. Juneteenth celebrations traditionally include parades, music, food, prayer services, and educational events, honoring African American culture and heritage. In 1980, Texas became the first state to officially recognize Juneteenth as a state holiday. In 2021, it was declared a federal holiday, reflecting growing national awareness of its historical and cultural significance. Today, Juneteenth stands as a time to reflect on the past, celebrate progress, and renew the commitment to justice and equality. Why am I writing this at a UPSP review today? Because I found it close today.

The postal clerk at 1pm Dec 4, 2025 was very brash. I wanted to take a picture of the label of a package that I was about to leave and she, in a very nasty manner, said that it is not allowed to take a picture in the post office because there is private info here. I told her that this is the lobby of a public bldg. and that it was allowed. She said that she has been there for 17 years and that it is against the law and then in a nasty manner, said have a nice day. I have looked it up and indeed you are able to take a picture in the lobby area of a post office-especially if you are only taking a pic of your own package!! She is either a liar or just ignorant and very rude. She probably doesn’t like people from this nice neighborhood because she’s not one of them and is full of complexes and hatred because of it. These postal clerks need to be educated about the laws governing the lobby of a post office and since they obviously weren’t raised right, they should be, at least, taught to be agreeable to the customers they are supposed to serve. 17 years working there and still ignorant? - 17 years of experience is no substitute for intelligence and good breeding.

Extremely rude experience today at this post office. I was next in line and went to the counter and the lady basically made me wait so she could process the lady’s packages behind me instead. The lady behind me in line apologized and I told her it wasn’t her fault - the woman working the counter was just really inconsiderate for that. At the end of our ordeal, she said “I wasn’t trying to be rude, but when I’m ready for the next customer I will call them” in the rudest manor. The whole time she kept talking to her coworkers anyway so I just walked up because I have places to be. On top of all of this, she threw the envelopes from the lady behind me like she didn’t want to be there and then proceeded to throw my packages aggressively as well. She’s probably in her late 40’s, glasses and a pony tail with slight grey hair. Wish I had gotten her name. Will not come back here. Save yourself the unnecessary stress & attitude from these people.

No one's here...? No signs either. Taking too long. This is interesting. We're in Bee Caves.
