Amylicious 6 months agoI come to this post office daily for my PO box, and the employees here are mostly friendly, usually patient, and doing the absolute best they can in a building that has clearly earned its senior discount. When staffing is this thin, predictable things happen. Some days the mail isn’t in my box after the posted time, so I wait in line to ask for it—only to discover they’ve had a whole bundle ready all along. Not a staff issue… just a staffing math problem. There is signage directing customers to the will-call/mail pickup door. Think of it less as instructions and more as a suggestion. No one is ever stationed there, a fact I learned early on after standing there confidently before being told I’d be waiting a very long time if I expected help. This location doesn’t need a luxury remodel, just basic maintenance, clearer direction, and a little TLC from the powers that be. Leaving post offices understaffed and aging like this isn’t exactly a winning strategy for public trust. The employees deserve better—and the customers would appreciate it too. Postmaster General: even a little love here would go a long way. This building has been patient long enough.
Cynthia 2 months agoExtremely unprofessional and disrespectful service. My young daughter visited this post office alone for the first time to mail an important document via Priority Mail Express with a return receipt as proof of deliver. Instead of providing basic guidance, an older male clerk was condescending and spoke to her in a harsh, scolding tone, repeatedly questioning her and making her feel embarrassed for not “being prepared.” in front of a room full of customers, as if asking for service was wrong. She was so distressed that she stood there in tears, trying to address and seal her envelope while holding back her crying. No customer, especially a young adult navigating this alone for the first time and unfamiliar with the process, deserves to be publicly humiliated this way. Additionally, the clerk incorrectly advised her that a return receipt was unnecessary and that tracking alone would be sufficient. This is inaccurate for important documents requiring proof of delivery. Due to the pressure and distress she was experiencing, she did not feel comfortable questioning this and proceeded without the service. We are now without critical proof of delivery for an important document. Looking at other reviews, this kind of behavior at this location is clearly not new. This employee’s conduct is unprofessional, demeaning, and caused real harm. This is completely unacceptable behavior from a USPS employee. This is not just about poor service, it’s about basic respect. I hope management takes this seriously and provides proper training. Customers deserve professionalism and courtesy.
Pretti B 4 months agoI had such a great experience at this post office, all thanks to Alex! He was friendly, knowledgeable, and super efficient. Even though it was busy, he stayed calm and made sure my package was processed correctly without any delays. He explained everything clearly and made the whole process quick and easy. Customer service like this makes a huge difference. Thank you, Alex, for going above and beyond!
Emerson Murray 11 months agoI rented a PO BOX here for three months, but haven’t frequented it other than that. Never had issues with anyone breaking into my PO BOX, the location is clean and well lit. It is disability accessible, if a bit hard to find- long ramp alongside two staircases to get down. It looks super sketchy, but I promise it’s actually a USPS haha- I’ve included photos as usual. There will be no parking nearby, as it’s in the heart of U District. Expect to walk at least two blocks from whatever two-hour street parking you manage to snag. The staff are pretty rude- mainly the older gentleman who “helped” me set up my PO BOX- I’ve worked customer service for many years so I made sure to have everything I’d need for it (and already fulfilled the payment online- all I needed to do was get my key) but he still found ways to make it a bad experience. Constantly interrupting, rushing you through you transaction even if you’re the only person there, talking trash about other customers and how they’ve been ill-prepared, etc. Really not a good experience. If I’d had the privilege to go elsewhere, I would have- but unfortunately, I was renting the PO BOX to use during a period of homelessness and couldn’t be picky as it was last second. Basically, if you can hold your tongue better than he can, you’ll be fine. Tolerate the disrespect, and you’ll eventually get what you need. Technically. Assuming being treated like a person is negotiable for you.
Pauly Tarricone 5 months agoThis location is in a terribly sad state. The little staff they do have does not have the support they need to do their jobs. I had a package to pick up and the lone worker was hopelessly unable to find it. It was an expensive order, but the worker was having a meltdown, yelling and belittling his coworker, as a line behind me backed up. He was clearly, completely overwhelmed and in no position to give me the help I needed to remedy the situation. If this were a business, I would absolutely report it to the Better Business Bureau, but given the total lack of support by the federal government, I have little hope there is any help coming for this location. Avoid coming in here at any reasonable cost.
